Do Not Tumble Dry

How many times do we disregard given instructions and opt to do things our own way?

Today was my laundry day. As I was folding my clothes straight from the dryer I paused and looked in disbelief. One of my favourite sweaters had literally shrunk a size or two.

Oh my (I have tumble dried it a million times and today is the day it decides to shrink?)

I took a look at the washing instructions;

Wash inside out. Wash similar colours. Iron on reverse side. Reshape whilst DAMP. DRY FLAT.

Dry Flat,” is an instruction for a knitted item, like a sweater, which will lose shape when you hang it on a hanger. Normally those types of items are placed on a flat surface, like on top of a clean towel, on the bed. And they are “blocked”, or placed in such a way as to form a natural shape of a sweater.

This was a very simple but important lesson for me. Its important to follow instructions. Often, instructions are given to keep us from jeopardising our lives and the lives of others. When these instructions are ignored tragedy is often the result.

It is very important to heed to God’s word.

“Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers,

and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.” (NIV)

Proverbs 16:20

Are you making daily decisions to apply what God requires of you in His Word into your daily activities.

Are you loving your neighbour? Do you trust God with all your heart? Are you refraining from gossip? Are you being respectful to the people around you? Are you being faithful in the little things?

Are we faithful in following God’s word?

Remember if it says do not tumble dry… Please don’t!!

Proverbs 4:13, “Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life”

Proverbs 19:20, “Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.”

2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

Grosses bises,

Michelle.

  1. It is always difficult to follow God’s commands, cause often it seems simpler to just go the easier route and do what’s convenient. But we should remember the easiest path isn’t always what’s best for us.
